How to plan a brand shoot: location, props, outfit
Location
When choosing your location, consider how it fits the story you’re telling- are you showing where you work, highlighting brand colours, or bringing other important motifs into your imagery (the beach, forests, your favourite cafe)?
If your space isn’t ideal, there are options- get outside, borrow a friend’s house, perch at a local café or pub garden. You can also try Airbnb, or hire a studio for the day.
If you’re booked in with me, I have a studio available for client shoots.
Props
Props are the physical items you include in the shots- they can be simple or extravagant, but they should fit your brand and the story you’re telling in the image.
Examples of props:
pens, notebooks, laptop, tablecloths, mug
tools, paintbrushes, flowers, plants
found objects, fabric swatches…. whatever is relevant to you.
Make a list of things to gather/pack on the day!
Outfits
The first priority is comfort and confidence! If you feel good in what you're wearing, it makes a difference.
Other things to consider:
Reference your brand colours and textures
A jumper or cardigan is an easy way to make a quick change so you have more than one 'look' in your photos
Make a shoot brief
To keep yourself organised, consider pulling all the notes you’ve made during the planning process into one place- this is your shoot brief. (If you’re working with me, I’ll do this for you).
